700 YOUTHS TO BENEFIT FROM NYOTA PROGRAMME IN ISIOLO, SAYS PS MOHAMED LIBAN
Isiolo, Kenya – Principal Secretary for the State Department of Petroleum, Mohamed Liban, has officially launched the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA)programme in Isiolo County, marking a significant milestone in youth empowerment efforts across the region.

Speaking during the rollout event, PS Liban announced that 70 youths will be selected from each of the ten wards ward in Isiolo County to benefit from the programme. The total number will be 700 youths. He emphasized that the initiative is particularly targeted at young people who have not had the opportunity to join university, with the aim of empowering them with skills and opportunities to keep them engaged and productive.
“The government is keen on ensuring no youth is left behind. Those who didn’t make it to university still have a future, and programmes like NYOTA are designed to uplift and empower them,” said Liban.
To register for the NYOTA programme, interested youths have been advised to *dial 254# and select the ‘NYOTA Project’ option from their mobile phones.
The PS made the remarks after a meeting with administrators from across Isiolo County. The local administrators have been tasked with spearheading sensitization campaigns, particularly through public barazas, to ensure widespread awareness and participation in the programme.
“This is a countywide initiative. We are counting on our chiefs and administrators to go to every corner of Isiolo and inform the youth about this opportunity,” Liban added.
The NYOTA programme is part of a broader national strategy to address youth unemployment and idleness by equipping young people with vocational skills, mentorship, and entrepreneurship training.
The launch in Isiolo is expected to spark a wave of mobilization as the county prepares to identify and enroll the first batch of beneficiaries in the coming weeks.
