SIX SUSPECTS IN POLICE CUSTODY AS 18 ILLEGAL FIREARMS RECOVERED
Police in Isiolo have arrested six suspects and recovered 18 illegal firearms in an ongoing security operation.

The firearms and ammunition were displayed on Sunday evening at the Isiolo Police Station, bringing the total number of weapons recovered so far to 23.
Isiolo Police Commander Isaac Sang said the recovered weapons include four MAC-4 rifles, seven AK-47 rifles, three G3 rifles, one M16 rifle, and one British-made rifle. All the firearms were reported to be in good condition and were recovered alongside ammunition.
Sang urged members of the public to voluntarily surrender any illegal firearms in their possession, noting that authorities believe more than 500 illegal guns are still in civilian hands within Isiolo County.
He warned that the ongoing operation will intensify and that those who fail to surrender illegal weapons will be arrested and prosecuted.
The six suspects arrested in connection with the recovered firearms are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court once investigations and processing are complete.
Isiolo Deputy County Commissioner Bernard Okwiri said that despite ongoing security operations, there have been attempts by bandits to steal livestock. However, he assured residents that all such attempts have been successfully repulsed by security officers.
