Isiolo Turkana Professionals Demand Speedy Probe into MCA Nicholas Lorot Shooting

A section of professionals from the Isiolo Turkana community has called for urgent investigations into the shooting of Burat Ward MCA Nicholas Lorot, who was attacked by an unknown assailant outside a local Isiolo hotel.
Speaking during demonstrations held in Isiolo town, the group demanded a full statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) regarding the incident, citing delays in the probe. The MCA, who sustained gunshot wounds to his hands and shoulders, is currently recovering at a Meru hospital after undergoing surgery.
Pastor Samuel Elupe, one of the protest leaders, expressed growing frustration among Turkana residents over the slow progress of the investigation. He warned that if action was not taken soon, the community would escalate their protests to the National Senate and the National Assembly in their quest for justice.
Hotel Footage Missing
Concerns were raised over the apparent lack of surveillance footage from the hotel where the shooting took place.
Joseph Elamlam, another protester, questioned why no footage had been provided despite the hotel having security cameras.
Community members also demanded the release of forensic details on the weapon used, as well as mobile communication records to establish the shooter’s location and any possible accomplices.
Veronicah Endon’ga said that the hotel should produce a footage to enable forensic evidence to be produced on shooter.
Addressing the demonstrators, Isiolo Deputy County Commissioner Christopher Siele assured the public that investigations were ongoing. He revealed that alternative surveillance footage from a nearby building had been obtained and was currently being analyzed by forensic experts.
Siele said the DCI is conducting a thorough investigation, and urged the public to remain patient.
