MCAs at the Isiolo County Assembly Table Notice of Motion to Impeach Governor Abdi Guyo
Members of the Isiolo County Assembly (MCAs) have initiated the process to potentially impeach Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo by tabling a notice of motion during a sitting held yesterday.
The notice, listed as Order No. 6 on the assembly’s order paper, was read by Sericho Ward MCA Abubakar Abdi. It is anchored on Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution, the Leadership and Integrity Act of 2012, and the Public Officer Ethics Act.
According to the notice, there is alleged evidence of abuse of office, misuse of public resources, irregular appointments of public officials, and other gross violations that contravene both the Constitution and county laws.
The motion received unanimous support from all members present in the assembly.
Speaker Mohamed Roba directed that a seven-day notice period be observed to allow for public participation. Following this, Governor Guyo will be granted a hearing before the motion can be officially tabled for debate in the assembly next Tuesday.
