POLICE BARRICADE HUDUMA STREET AMID TENSE SCENES AT ISIOLO COUNTY ASSEMBLY, AS NEW NOTICE OF IMPEACHMENT TABLED

Police on Wednesday morning barricaded Huduma Street, which leads to the Isiolo County Assembly, as tensions flared between rival groups of protesters and law enforcement.
The clashes, marked by running battles and stone-throwing, saw officers disperse opposing groups of youth attempting to storm the county assembly building. Inside, Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) remained locked in a session, the outcome of which had not been made public by press time.
Governor Abdi Guyo attempted to access the chambers but was unsuccessful. He was swiftly escorted away by a heavily armed police unit as chaos erupted between supporters and opponents of a motion to impeach him.
Later, the MCAs were evacuated from the assembly under tight security in an armored police vehicle, their destination undisclosed.
Unconfirmed reports also suggest that Sericho Ward MCA Abubakar Abdi has been appointed as the new Majority Leader, replacing Abdirashid Ali of Garbatula Ward, a known ally of Governor Guyo and also replaced the clerk Salad Boru with Yusuf Hajj Boru to be the new acting clerk of the county assembly.
Meanwhile some media houses had reported that Speaker Roba had resigned quoting a resignation letter that has since been verified to be fake by the speaker who spoke with the press via his official WhatsApp chat line.
The speaker confirmed that a new notice of impeachment of the governor has been tabled by the assembly after “the earlier defective one was withdrawn”
The speaker is however yet to confirm the issue about the replacement of the Majority leader and the clerk
