President Ruto Accuses Opposition Leaders of Misusing Youths During Nyota Project Launch
President Dr. William Ruto has launched the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) project, benefiting over 4,100 youths from Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, and Laikipia counties.
Speaking during the launch, President Ruto reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering young people and creating sustainable development opportunities for them across the country.
Accompanied by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the President accused opposition leaders of exploiting youths by using them to provide security at political meetings and to discredit government programs without offering viable alternatives.
President Ruto highlighted several government initiatives aimed at supporting youth empowerment, including the Hustler Fund, the NyOTA Fund, and programs that create opportunities for youths to work on digital platforms. He also mentioned efforts to link young people with employment opportunities abroad as part of the government’s broader youth agenda.
Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki dismissed claims by opposition leaders that the NyOTA project provides insufficient funding. Addressing the thousands of youths present, he said the funds were adequate to help beneficiaries start and grow their own businesses.
